Ireland is a land I have always dreamed of visiting. I have dreamed up this image in my head ever since I was young. Of course this was something I had based off of movies I’d seen. I had no real idea of what it would feel or look like through my own eyes. So far, reality has exceeded my expectations. To be truly be where I’ve always wanted to be, is something that hasn’t fully sunk in.
My excitement level has already tripled since I boarded the first flight of my journey. I expect a constant tripling of this each and every new day I’m here. I am going to see all I can see, erase my cliché movie images, and build my own first hand eyesight.
Today as we toured the city, I was bombarded with beautiful architecture. This may sound strange but I will fill you in on a little fact about me anyways. I have always had a small obsession with doors. I can’t tell you why this came about or how. As we walked around passing residences, churches, and other buildings, my focus immediately fell on the doors. I believe you can tell many things from a door. What kind of person lives behind this door? Are they a professional? A designer? An artist maybe? I am quick to base an entire building strictly off what kind of door I will pass through when I enter. Is it a bright color? Is there a knocker? If so, is it a unique or classic design? Seeing the types of doors that hide the inside world from the outside world here, has made me imagine myself living here. There was one in door in particular on the outskirts of the mall that I saw myself leaving and re entering each day. It was a beautiful, soft yellow wooden door with a classic lion knocker. I don’t even care to know what is held inside. All I know is I fell in love with that door.
