Lets talk journalism

Today was our first day of official class for the ieimedia journalism students. We did a lot of brainstorming and talking about what we wanted our blogs to focus on. Pictures are such a big element in multi-media journalism and Katie, James and I are going to try very hard to capture the beauty of Ireland through a camera lens. We didn’t officially decide on our focuses today but by Friday we will have a more substantial idea of what we want our magazine-style website to be about.

The three of us have very different ideas of what we would like to focus on, but when different minds work together the final product is usually one of greatness, so I am excited for that.

We also did some traveling today, the entire group traveled to Navan Fort and learned about some Irish legends regarding heroes, hounds and curses. Besides the beautiful scenery along the way I would say the short film describing these tales was my favorite thing about the day, it was very interesting.

We went most of the way up the hill today before the pouring horizontal rain forced us back down the hill, but what we did see was breathtaking.

Everyday I think there’s a different theme to the day and today I would have to say it was the food, things are blander here, but the meals are still good, just in a different way. I had a pineapple, ham and mozzarella cheese sandwich for lunch and I thought it was delicious. Whether the fact that I had had nothing but airplane food for the two days before that was a factor I will never know.

Tomorrow is more class and a tour of the library to learn more about the folklore in this area, should be an interesting day as well.

Fun fact of the day: A “bap” is a hamburger bun.

Ex: “For lunch I had a baconburger on a bap with a side of chips”

                    ***I really hope I used that right…

For a real treat, try a bacon bap ! I love your take on collaboration with your classmates and appreciate that how differnt points of view and goals can still lead to an effective partnership. I”m looking forward to hearing about everyone’s story ideas as they develop. There is fertile ground here for ideas and exploration.
