Wandering Tourist

Today’s adventures in Armagh remind me of a trend I usually field in my nightmares: being chronically lost in a strange, empty space. As I wondered through Armagh, pondering the subject of my upcoming play and idly searching for Friar Tucks for lunch, when it became quite clear that I really didn’t know where I was. And when I looked around to see this almost industrial portion of town that I had entered, I realized I couldn’t even see either axis mundi in the Catholic and Protestant cathedrals. It seemed like, for the first time, I was in a truly foreign country. But, fortunately, it wasn’t a dream. I found my way back to familiar territory within minutes. And I had a delightful meal of Friar Tuck’s Garlic, Bacon, and Cheese tub. It was fracking delicious.
