I have had the privilege of meeting so many interesting people so far! It makes me excited to meet so many more people.

I had a particularly fun time talking to the youth at the hostel in Belfast. We compared slang, listened to each other’s accents, and giggled at what we thought of each other.

One girl, Jamie, kept saying my name every chance she got. She thought it was great! She had one of the thickest accents I’ve heard so far. When she said my name, it almost didn’t sound like it at all. I really love how everyone says “Katie” around here.

She also was so excited to teach me multiple sayings that are common around here. “Wanna go for a bock?” That means, “want to go have sex?” Another one was “Lets go get lush.” meaning “lets get drunk.” But my favorite one and the one I heard the most among the young adults in the hostel was, “He’s fit.” this means “he’s sexy.”

She was a complete riot to talk to.

When she wasn’t addressing me in her thick accent, she was shouting above the crowd to us, “hey Americans!”
