Storyful

Dublin and Belfast are like night and day. That’s a horrible cliché, but it’s fine. Earlier in my travels I compared Belfast to the calm after the storm, but in Dublin there was never a storm. It’s always sunny all the time.

Anyone who came with me to the meeting at Storyful is going to know what the best part of Dublin was for me. I loved everything about this media company, the CEO was wonderful and the overall hope that it is possible for aspiring journalists to be successful was a much much much needed breath of fresh air.

Storyful is a company created by Mark Little which helps clients discover, verify and distribute the most valuable content on social media platforms. Aka: Twitter, FB and YouTube creeping. My specialty. I was very lucky to receive Mark’s information card and hope that I can maybe pursue something in this direction once I graduate. I’ve never been excited to graduate before today, it’s scary.

Dublin is beautiful, although it’s not the green peaceful Ireland you expect it’s so beautiful in its own way. Thousands of people of different cultures flock the streets surrounding Temple Bar and cram into every bar to hear the “traditional Irish music.” Which is a lot harder to find then you would expect. Friday night we went deep into Dublin and found some traditional Gaelic-speaking musicians in a pub. They were grand.  I love the tourist shops and the patient bartenders who try to understand what all us tourists want. It’s a lovely place and I would be more than thankful to maybe one day, work there.

*fingers crossed*
