To me, fact is something that can be proven. But this logic applies strictly to my writing as a journalist. Unless I have something stated officially or proven to me I am not going to publish it as a fact. That’s just the way I was taught, I need reliable sources to form my credibility.
Fiction is something made up, a story, a figment of the imagination. Fairytales, dragons and the loch ness monster, etc.
The only place where fact and fiction blur for me is with religion, and where the world came from and all that. But I don’t want to get into those details. Everyone has their own opinion and it tires me to argue about them.
I think the truth is simply what people choose to believe. Everyone has their own truths…and we hold these truths to be self evident and yada yada yada. But really, the truth is shown by facts, and when something can’t be proven people go with what they find most logical and just continue from there. It’s hard to describe what the truth is, but when you question someone on what they think is the truth, they always have a clear answer. Funny how life works.
