Beauty Queen//Ma.

I gravitated toward Martin McDonagh’s “Beauty Queen of Leenane.” The text satisfied the ugly in me. You know? When your brain thinks astonishingly morbid thoughts and you’re like “WTF Brain?! Why did you think that?” But you do. And it’s an arena to be recognized. And in “Beauty Queen’s” case, embraced. The story relays a parasitic, abusive relationship between a mother and daughter. I think it’s important to write about the real, and ugly, which McDonagh gracefully executes. Even further, he convinces the reader to CARE for the women despite their rottenness. This text closely mirrors my original work, “Ma.” Coincidentally,  I wrote this script before reading “Beauty Queen.” Lastly, the play was short. I have the tendency of falling asleep while reading long texts, but this one, I finished effortlessly.

THIS IS MY FAVORITE AND WHY.

I like how you write about how ugly this play is in such a pretty shade of aquamarine.
