First impressions:
- We’re definitely not in Armagh anymore.
- Dublin seems to be some sort of international hub, witness the fact that everything in the hotel is written in English, German, French, Spanish, and Italian.
- Dublin has really badass doors.
More specifically, I love doors with the doorknob stuck in the middle. I don’t know how that works exactly in terms of opening it, but it looks cool. I also like the more multicultural feel of the city (as compared to Armagh, which is smaller and quieter); though Armagh has a few Chinese and Indian places that I’ve seen, in Dublin so far I’ve seen multiple Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Thai places. Today I actually got to try one of the nearby Vietnamese places:
The broth was a bit sweeter than I’d like, but I’d still go back again 😀 Hopefully I’ll also get to try at least one other Asian place while we’re here; I’m really curious about the Irish take on Chinese food in particular. And of course more rice never hurt anyone. Interestingly, this particular restaurant offered boiled rice instead of the steamed rice typically offered in other places—I wonder if that’s more of a trend out here? Luckily I haven’t completely taken leave of my senses, or I might well have ordered some. D:
